39 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy, I started spotting so I went to the hospital to make sure all was OK. I was assessed in triage and told to stay in for the evening so they could keep an eye on me and baby. Little did I know that night was the night my labour would start!
In the early hours of the morning I felt a bit of fluid coming out – I called the midwife and she said it was my waters. It was just a little trickle, nothing like in the films!
I started getting cramps , I started some breathing techniques I learnt from my session. I continued doing so until I felt really calm. I started listening to a hypnobirthing tune from my phone and to other classical music to shift my attention away from the pain I was feeling. The contractions got stronger but I felt good – and relaxed. By 3am, I spoke with the midwife and we agreed to call my husband (he was looking after our little girl at our home so hadn’t come with me).
I was then taken to the labour ward around 3.15am. Shortly after i got there, I was contracting every 3 minutes. I hadn’t had the chance to ask for any pain relief because I went into active labour within such a short time so all I did was consciously work on my breathing to help ease things.
Our perfect little boy was out at 5.30am in a very straighforward delivery. I feel very blessed to have come across you and your hypnobirthing techniques, you made such a difference to me.
