Hello!
I’m so sorry for the delay in writing, we’re adjusting slowly to “life with 2”! Richard arrived very quickly on 5th July. This is his birth story:
My contractions started off very mild in the early morning I listened to one or two of the relaxations during this time. My waters broke at 5am and things picked up fast. I woke my boyfriend up a bit later – I thought he needed his sleep so he’d have energy later. We left for the hospital at 7am after a chat with the midwife. The surges were now 3 in 10 mins so I knew labour was well underway!
We got in the car I listened to some chilled music and breathed deeply through the car journey. I suddenly had a strong feeling that this baby was coming very very soon! So thankfully I switched to one of the breathing techniques you’d given me to slow things down. I tried so hard not to push on the car journey!
We got to the hospital and dashed (well, tried to!!) to a wheelchair! I put my trusty flannel with lavender on it over my face. We’d been told that we had to go to the labour ward for an examination first so we went there. But as soon as we arrived I told them that it was my second baby and that it was coming and that I needed to go to the birth centre asap!
The midwife grabbed the wheelchair and ran me down the hall; I barely got my jeans off before he was born on a sofa in one of the rooms at 6.39am. Sadly no time for the pool but it was a truly powerful, primal experience and something I’ll always smile about in wonder of it.
I can honestly say that hypnobirthing was the best thing we did. Obviously with it being so quick, that helped, but the tools you provided on the course were invaluable. We’ve said that we’d probably have a home birth if we went for no. 3.
Hypnobirthing is healing and thanks for teaching us more about it and being on hand throughout the process and after!
Best wishes
Allie xx
